Hi,
I have an A/C issue with this vehicle. The A/C will run perfectly and is very cold for hours. Then after a long period of time it will stop blowing cold air. The fan continues to operate, but no compressor. If I turn the engine off and then right back on, the compressor will kick in and it will all work again. If I am in stop and go traffic when this happens, I will just shut the engine off and restart it at one of the stop light. The compressor will always come right back on if I do that. I put it in the Ford dealership service department, but they said they could not find anything wrong with the A/C. And of course I could not duplicate the problem. I might be able to figure it out if I could find an A/C electrical schematic to look at. where would I get one? Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Don

I'm still having the above problem with my A/C. I can't find anything on the Internet about this. So, If I could get an electrical wiring diagram for the 2014 I might be able to fix it my self. Does anyone know where I could find a schematic?

June 2020. Still have not fixed this A/C issue, but I do have a little more information which is giving me a place to start. I talked with a Ford Dealership mechanic who has works on this A/C problem before. He said that he could not ever find an exact cause but he has seen this a lot of the Forcus and Fiestas. He suspects that the Condenser is freezing up and triggering a sensor mounted on the condenser which then shuts down the compressor. Since he thinks it is an ice issue, it is really hard to prove because by the time he gets to have a look at the vehicle, the ice is gone. And just starting the engine will allow the compressor to re-start normally. So the problem could be two-fold. Either the compressor is not cycling to prevent the ice, or the sensor is defective or too sensitive.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I now have over 214,000 miles on this Focus, and I'm still having the same A/C issue. However, it seems to have gotten better. The compressor will stop engaging only once or twice a month as described in my previous posts. The temperature output is extremely cold. Even on very hot days out here in the desert, I may have to turn the fan down one or two settings. Stopping the engine and restarting it will correct the problem. I'm still looking for a reason why it does that.
