P0012 code 2012 focus need some help

so my 2012 focus sel lost power suddenly it seems to come and go anyway I got a code P0012.when I looked into it I was told cam sensor but when I googled im seeing it could be Variable Timing Solenoid.i really don't want to throw parts at it as money is tight at the moment so whats my best bet?
forscan gives me P0012:00-64 and P0012-P any help would be appreciated I really need the car for work thanks
