Front end binding while turning

I have a 2003 focus lx just wondering if a bad cv axel could cause the front end to bind for a second and make a loud chip or squeal then release only from a dead stop turning left only any help would be appreciated I know it's bad just trying to find if it's possible something else could be causing the binding
