Brake lights including 3 light stays on while driving

Hello all,
Not sure if anyone has experienced this but I have a 2001 Ford focus SE and just the other day I was driving and all brake lights remain on while I was driving. When I engage the break the lights don't flash just stays on. Would anyone possibly know what the issue is?

The switch, under the dash, that works the Brake light - may have popped out or the "stem" it uses to operate the plunger of that Brake light switch, is faulty / broken
