Ford is expanding its Focus and Fiesta lines even more. The Michigan-headquartered automaker revealed new sport-themed editions of the two cars.

Called ST-Line editions, the new Focus and Fiesta still borrow the same look of their parent hatchbacks, with the addition of improved fuel efficiency and upgraded performance, Auto Express has learned.

The Fiesta ST-Line comes with a couple of engine options. There's a 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol and a diesel option as well. For a more eco-friendly drive, Ford is offering a version with a 1.5-liter 94bhp TDCi unit.

On the other hand, the Focus ST-Line will come with a selection of petrol engines and two diesel options. For the diesel options, one can choose between a 1.5-liter or a 2.0-liter engine.

The news about Ford's new ST-Line editions comes amid speculations that the renowned carmaker is working on a more powerful and faster Focus RS500 following the launch of its 2016 Ford Focus RS.

The old Ford Focus RS500 already has a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, so AutoBlog thinks the upgrade in the vehicle would most likely be found on its improved acceleration due to its reduced weight.

There are many speculations regarding the new Focus RS500, and among them is a claim that the car will sport carbon-fiber wheels to match its lightweight body.

In other news, Ford has just issued a recall for nearly 1.9 million vehicles over air bag concerns. Fox 31 Denver reported that the inflators of the recalled cars are defective.

The recall was issued for North America-built models of the 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang and 2007-2011 Ford Ranger.

Other units affected by this recall are the 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX; 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan and the 2005-2006 Ford GT.

For car owners who want to find out if their vehicle is part of the recall, Ford suggests visiting its website and entering the VIN of their car.
